United Kingdom - Barnsley

Application deadline -

You’re a good vet who cares and wants to be the best vet you can be. You didn’t spend five years at vet school to work for a practice that won’t challenge you or help progress your career.
Bored of routine production line consults, strict rotas and never-ending targets. You are ‘stuck in a rut,’ and feeling frustrated. This isn’t what you signed up for.

You are worried you are going to get more of the same if you move. You don’t want a job, you want a career (find your calling?), a place you can call home.

Not many practices can boost 156 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews on Google, but this one can. A practice that doesn’t cut corners, a loyal customer base who appreciate what you do, and a team of experienced vets and nurses working in a relaxed, friendly environment together, doing what is right for the patient and practice.

Luckily this practice is now hiring due to growth. This 3-year old, modern independent, privately owned, well-managed small animal practice is recruiting for a vet. Their stellar reputation can be attributed to outstanding client communication, a transparent and reasonable pricing strategy, and delivering high standard veterinary care.

You can expect an interesting caseload here with plenty of opportunities to consult, discuss cases, and operate every week.

The range of equipment and toys is outstanding (digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, full in-house lab, Tonovet Plus, slit lamp, etc).

You can also enjoy the benefits of joint surgical sessions, where you would have a helping hand with procedures, including BOAS, LBO, liver lobectomy, cholecystectomy, TECA, salivary gland removal and urethrostomy.

They are moving on to orthopaedics (including external and internal fracture repairs lateral sutures, FHNE etc), but the list is constantly growing.

They understand the ideal candidate doesn’t exist, but they would like somebody who will be
comfortable with all areas of medicine, routine and emergency soft tissue surgery, and exotics.
However, a kind empathetic vet whose experience might not be there yet but is keen to learn,
advance and acquire that knowledge is just as important to them.

This is a 40-hour week over 4/5 days subject to rota, 1:2 Sat mornings (under review when the third vet starts.) No on call or OOH. Some sole charge will be required after induction. They are flexible here and can accommodate a PT vet.

So, what’s in it for you: £45k-£65k per annum DOE, pension, 28 hols plus stats, a very comprehensive CPD package with no upper limit. RCVS and VDS fees paid. BSAVA membership paid. Certs, funded and encouraged. Private medical insurance for all team members (including access to private GP and specialist referrals, private hospitals, scans, diagnostics, mental health cover, stress councelling)

Located 5 minutes from Barnsley Town Centre with coffee shops, restaurants, a sports centre and with Sheffield, Leeds, and the Peak District a short drive away what’s not to like?

Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a good vet who cares about the patients. Most importantly, you want somewhere you can stick around. A place to help, learn and give back to the profession you love.

So, what’s next?

Send your CV to [email protected], don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoy being a vet again.
