Southminster is a small vibrant town with a mixture of commuters via the railway line to London Liverpool Street and people who work locally and is situated on the Dengie Peninsula in the Maldon district of Essex in the East of England. It lies about 3 miles north of Burnham-on-Crouch which is a quiet, unspoilt riverside town with an attractive quayside full of old-world charm with listed buildings, boat-building yards and sailing clubs.

Church View Vet Clinic is a family-owned independent veterinary practice and our friendly staff, professional approach and comprehensive range of services and facilities attract clients from Burnham on Crouch and the surrounding areas who are looking for a vet they can trust.

We are looking for someone (experienced or a new graduate) who has the same passion as us, for our patients and clients. We offer a great place to work and a supportive culture, so you can flourish and have real responsibility in our independent practice. We also offer a fantastic work-life balance.

This is what our Vets Tierney and Melinda and our lead nurse Lilly had to say about being part of the team here at Church View Vet Clinic;

“I first came to church view as a student in my final years of university, was offered a job, and have been here ever since! I felt instantly welcomed by the team and was so well supported through my first years as a vet. We all get on really well and still have a laugh even when it’s busy, which is what has kept me working here nearly 4 years on”.
Tierney, BVSc MRCVS
“I’m relatively new to the team and find everyone so incredibly Friendly, positive and supportive. The work-life balance really suits me!. I was signed up to the CVS new graduate program which has been beneficial to starting my career”.
Melinda, BVetMed MRCVS
I joined Church View Veterinary Clinic in 2018 for a 10-week student veterinary nurse placement. This turned into 5 years as a member of the team and three years as a qualified veterinary nurse. The whole team at Church View are not just my colleagues, they are my family, and they have supported me through every step of my journey and life. They are the reason I am the veterinary nurse I am today.
Lilly, RVN

About us:

We are a 3-vet happily independent, small animal practice based in Southminster, Essex, only 10 minutes from the pretty coastal town of Burnham on Crouch but only just over an hour from Central London by train. One of our vets is starting the exciting journey of parenthood!, so although we will need maternity cover this will not be where your adventure with us ends!, as we are very much wanting to expand to a 4-vet practice.
We have grown rapidly since we started in 2009, when Lindsey decided to open her own practice and do things a little differently than her previous roles. We now have three Vets (and want to expand to 4), 2 experienced RVNs’, 2 SVNs’, 3 receptionists and 3 Animal Care Assistants. We all look after each other, work hard but have a giggle at the same time!
We are passionate about our patients, for example all our euthanasia’s are sedated first, and we would love someone to join the team who feels the same way about veterinary practice as we do.
We have a great work-life balance. All our vets work a 4-day week, the same day off each week, only 1:3 Saturday’s mornings plus a long weekend every 3 weeks in addition to your regular day off.
We also have amazing holidays, over 6 weeks annual leave even when you first start with us.
We finish consulting at 6pm, so we have time built in to deal with any emergencies at the end of the day, AND we actually have proper lunch breaks!!
We are able to support new graduates, and fully fund the 2- year CVS New Graduate Scheme for Independent Practices. Lindsey our main vet is also completing the VetGDP advisor training. We have the flexibility in the diary to support you during surgery and won’t let you fly solo until you’re fully ready.
We do look after our own non- critical inpatients one evening a week and 1:3 weekends, but all critical cases and new emergencies are covered by our local Vets Now surgery.
We have some great kit, including laparoscopy, sevoflurane for all ops, ultrasound and bronchoscopy.
We see a huge variety of cases and your career will develop rapidly with us. We have more than enough interesting cases to support a medical, surgical, ophthalmology or imaging certificate.

About you:

We would be able to support someone relatively new to the profession if they share our passion for animal care and are a great communicator. Perhaps your first role hasn’t given you the support you need, and we really can support and develop your career.
We have a proven track record for looking after our new grads well.
Equally we would be happy to chat to you if you are looking to settle down or perhaps you have a specialism you want to develop. We are looking for a full-time vet but could potentially consider a part-time vet too.

The Package:

Salary ranges from £35,000 to £70,000 dependent on experience.
New graduate vet programme for new grads run by CVS
Annual leave is calculated in days, you work a 4-day week and receive 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, so you have over 6 weeks annual leave.
RCVS and VDS fees paid, as well as other subscriptions if appropriate.
CPD £1500 and 5 days, we would also be happy to support a certificate.
