City Road Veterinary Centre – New Vets

Cornwall Truro Independent

City Road veterinary centre is a small animal veterinary practice based centrally in the cathedral city of Truro, Cornwall. Not having advertised for a vet for many years, we now have a very exciting opportunity for one to come and join us in 2023

  • We are the longest established independent practice in Cornwall
  • We are part of the Vet Dynamics and Vetsure independent practice community and have won numerous awards in recent years
  • Our client base is fortunate enough to allow us to work up, investigate and perform surgery to a high standard
  • We believe that veterinary care is more than just about caring. Truly caring for pets is more than just making sure they are fit and healthy. Caring is about being connected and strengthening the bond between the pet, it’s owner and us the Vet.
  • Truro is the cathedral city of Cornwall, with all the amenities of a city, yet with the charm of a county town , situated a short drive to the beaches of the north and south coast.
  • We are veterinary surgeon and practice manager owned.
  • We have all the usual toys that you might expect within a high end clinic
  • We have visiting APs in surgery, orthopaedics and cardiology with an in house AP in Dermatology
  • We have an established shared vision and team derived culture
  • We meet regularly socially with twice yearly major events
  • We like to put the FUN into veterinary practice

  • A full time vet with 2+ years experience ideally but part timers and new graduates are welcome to apply ( As well as being a VetGDP, we are also a Vetsure graduate friendly practice, so new graduates would be hugely supported with a designated mentor)
  • No divas ! There is no I in TEAM
  • A vet who is excited to learn, work up medical cases with solid surgical skills with support and funding up to certificate level.

  • A signing on Bonus of £3K
  • New graduate salary £30K
  • Graduate 1-5 yrs £33 to 45K
  • 5years + £45-60K dependant on the work they generate and the qualities they bring to the team
  • Assistance with relocation costs
  • Pension paid
  • Health care cash plan
  • Private medical insurance
  • 4 Day week with 1:4 weekend rota ( and following friday afternoon off or cash in lieu)
  • 5 weeks holiday and bank holidays
  • 5 days CPD and allowance
  • All the usual subs paid

  • An active involvement in the the direction and development of the practice
  • Autonomy to make day to day decisions to improve systems, processes and client engagement
  • The support and back up that many graduates ( new and old) are deprived of
  • The space and psychological safety to come up with new ideas and speaking out without being shot down in flames
  • An alternative to the corporate recipe
