Vetsure are now offering ‘Accident Only’ insurance for pets over 10 years of age. At Vetsure, we want to always be able to care for a pet regardless of their age, so now if a customer did not have any insurance in place before their pet turned 10, customers can still ensure they have some cover to protect them in the case of an accident.
Vetsure’s Accident Only policy provides a senior pet with cover for accidental injury only. For example, this would cover treatment following a road traffic accident, foreign body ingestion, bone fractures, lacerations, burns and such like. This policy would not cover illnesses or conditions that have an underlying medical cause such as cruciate ligament rupture and patella luxation.
Many insurers stop offering policies for pets once they are classed as a ‘Senior’ Pet, which is often when they turn 8 years of age. If the relevant insurance policy is not purchased prior to this cut-off point, it can be a very stressful time for the customer trying to find the appropriate cover for their pet.
With Vetsure, cover is offered for any pets up to 10 years of age and, provided premiums are kept up to date, cover will continue to be provided for the remaining life of the pet and now cover can be brought to those pets over 10 years old too.
As standard with Accident Only Over 10s insurance policy, a customer would receive:
Then, choose an Excess Level to suit their budget. We have three levels of Vet Fees excess that can be chosen from: £69, £109 or £149.
These are collected once only per condition. Not per condition per year as is the case with many other pet insurance providers.
The Accident Only policy can then be tailored to suit the customer and the pet’s individual requirements, with the following three optional covers.
Vetsure’s ‘Additional Benefits Cover’ includes the following benefits:
Public Liability (for dogs only) up to £2 million per incident is also an optional benefit. This provides cover for damages and costs arising from ownership of a dog.
Vetsure offer Preventative Care Vouchers to help you save on your pet’s preventative healthcare needs. These vouchers are worth at least £160 per year.
Please note – this optional cover is currently only available, and vouchers only redeemable, at selected accredited clinics.
Terms and conditions apply.
Remember, your customers can still insure their pets for Accident AND Illness cover (under our Premier and Premier Plus policies) policies up to their 10th birthday.
Great help with the new grad scheme — thanks to all staff.

There are so many things that I love about Vetsure which for me sets them apart from other buying groups and insurance companies. Their core values, their ideals of collaboration amongst independent veterinary practices, and most importantly their trustworthiness all lend to an incredible personable business model.

Cheesy but true, I love that I can email a query over and it is dealt with straight away (or as soon as the office is open if I have emailed over the weekend). Everyone I speak to (and email) is so cheerful – just a pleasure to deal with – this certainly makes you stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Vetsure are more than ‘just’ a buying group and insurance provider. The icing on the cake to what they offer is a very useful graduate support online training program which provides a structured approach (with templates) to help take a recent graduate safely and steadily through from their first day to full integration into the practice team. Worth joining for that alone!
